As a Strategic Purchaser, you are part of the Purchasing Department of the Industrial Automation Business (IAB) in Europe. You will be responsible for the ‘end-to-end’ management of Finished Goods from (OEM or EMS) and the Mechatronics commodity, from strategy development, contracting to implementation and assuring supply. You will be contributing to best-in-class material management when it comes to quality, cost, delivery and servicing the Omron internal stakeholders. In this role, it is crucial to have the ability and the energy to drive change within internal and external stakeholders.  

 

 Your responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Developing and maintaining your Product portfolio to achieve the Purchasing KPI’s on short and long term;
  • Managing your suppliers in all aspects of their cooperation with OMRON;
  • Developing, supporting, and coordinating New Product Introductions (NPI’s);
  • Supporting the daily operations while cooperating with internal stakeholders from Quality, Product Management, Supply Chain, Services and Warehousing/Shipping;
  • Supporting the Purchasing Department in its development towards the future.

 

Who are you?

  • Bachelor / Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management/ Industrial Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering or similar; 
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a tactical/strategic purchasing of finished goods and/or outsourced products (e.g. at EMS, ODM) and experience with Mechatronics (PCBA box-build, integrated subassemblies, human interface devices)
  • Experience with end-to-end category management (from strategic to tactical to implementation stage);
  • Experience in onboarding new EMS/ODM/OEM suppliers including items like: Purchasing agreement, business review structure, process alignment, team collaboration and first production ramp-up.
  • Previous experience with negotiating which leads to strong commitment and partnership within internal and external stakeholders;
  • Experience with ERP systems, contract management, category management and purchasing project management;
  • Experience in facilitating insourcing/outsourcing (make/buy) decisions is a plus.
  • Proficiency in English. Dutch is a plus.
