As a Purchasing engineer, you are part of the Purchasing Department of the Industrial Automation Business (IAB) in Europe. You will be responsible for the ‘end-to-end’ management of your new product development projects and/or engineering changes. From completely new products to value engineering or transfer projects, you will assure supply and provide the best possible opportunities from the supply base. You will be contributing to best-in-class material management when it comes to quality, cost, delivery and servicing the Omron internal stakeholders. In this role, it is crucial to have the ability and the energy to work in projects and drive change within internal and external stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will be as follows:
- Coordinate, Develop and support New Product Introductions (NPI’s), Engineering Changes (EC) and other supplier related technical projects;
- Manage RfQs, supplier selection, supplier and BOM set-up for new parts in projects. Support proto typing, FAI, audits and successful launch in mass production;
- Support the daily project activities while cooperating with internal stakeholders from R&D, Procurement, Quality, Product Management, Manufacturing and Supply Chain;
- Driving Value Engineering portfolio in the Purchasing Department to support its development towards the future;
- Ensure representation of procurement in NPI (DR process) and EC (change review board)
- Collaborate closely with R&D to be first point of contact from procurement towards R&D in Europe;
- Liase with strategic buyers in the team to ensure that supply base for Omron is set-up for the future requirements based on the product development roadmap.
Who are you?
- Bachelor / Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering or similar;
- Technical background combined with commercial experience;
- Minimum of 5+ years of successful experience in a purchasing role with new product introduction or lifecycle management responsibility operating in multidisciplinary, international teams;
- Previous experience with negotiating which leads to strong commitment and partnership within internal and external stakeholders;
- Experience with Mechanical parts (eg casting/machining, sheet metal, injection moulding), Electronics (Memory, ICs, passives) and Mechactronics (eg motors, HMI assemblies, cables, connectors, ..) is a plus;
- Proficiency in English. Dutch is a plus.
