Junior Mechanical Engineer
OMRON is an international manufacturer of controls and automation for modern machines. Our products are mainly found in machines for the food, automotive, and semiconductor industries. Within our R&D department, we are currently looking for a junior Mechanical Engineer with at least 1 year of work experience in the high-tech industry to join our IPC platform. As a Junior Mechanical Engineer, you are involved in the design process for new products and the maintenance and improvement of existing ones. For this, you are responsible for developing and testing parts of designs within the mechanical domain, and you also contribute to solve design problems. You are contributing to projects and therefore you are a good team player and feel comfortable collaborating with stakeholders from other disciplines.
Your responsibilities will be as follows
- You support the design and development of mechanical parts and products based on system requirements and high-level designs.
- You translate designs into clear technical drawings and specifications, applying Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
- You maintain and improve existing designs during the development lifecycle.
- You carry out quality tests to check whether product components meet Omron's standards and industrial international standards.
- You collaborate with R&D and cross-functional teams such as production and quality.
Who are you?
- You have a bachelor’s degree (HBO) in Mechanical Engineering.
- You have 1 year of relevant experience (internship included), preferably in a high-tech R&D or product development environment.
- You have experience with 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks or 3D experience.
- You can work independently within a team, take ownership of tasks, and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
- You communicate easily in English and have a proactive, critical, and quality-focused mindset.
Affinity with electronics is a plus.
